This story is a sweet romance. We start the story at the scene of a battlefield. Erienne is running for her father’s body and is stopped by a large Viking, Geirr. Once the skirmish is done, Erienne’s brother gives her to the Vikings for a slave. Erienne is taken away to be a slave. She has a rough time on the journey to Geirr’s home. But, once she is on land, she is better. When Geirr introduces her to the king and queen, they realize that she is nobility and grant her freedwoman status. Unfortunately, Erienne doesn’t understand their language and believes that she is still a slave. Eventually, the two fall in love even though Geirr says he never wants to marry again. But, love does not run true and there are problems along the way. I liked this book, it was very sweet, but there were no spankings in this story at all. I was a little surprised because of the publisher. But, it was well written. I give this story 4 stars.

This is my first Viking book and I absolutely loved it! It’s definitely a spicy read. Geirr and Erienne left me blushing, and my heart pounding several times. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was a meaty story with a good plot and well developed characters

This was a meaty story with a good plot and well developed characters, and not just Geirr and Erienne but Geirr’s whole family too. Geirr and Erienne are really attracted to each other and easily fall in love. Gierr is kind and patient as Erienne learns to adapt to her new environment but he acted without honour when he kept Erienne from knowing she was a free woman not a slave. When she found out she was free I liked that Erienne had the strength to stand up to Gierr in the only way she could forcing Geirr to acknowledge the depth of his feelings and his need for her which meant offering her marriage, a status she deserved as a free noble woman. There was danger, mystery and intrigue along the way. Good story.

I gladly give this book 5 stars, I could not put it down. It had intrigue, who knew if he really loves her, not even he did. She had no idea she was really a free person in this new land where she finally finds a family who love and accept her. This book is very well written with a good plot.
